The fourth annual MakeIT Awards, marking distinction in furniture and wood design amongst school students, will be held on June 19at the Rycotewood Furniture Centre in Oxford. The awards are going to be held as a part of the college’s annual furniture show which will bring together the experts of the industry, teachers and students to celebrate Britain’s emerging design talent in the furniture industry.
The competition aims to raise awareness of the careers available within the industry as well as the skills that are required. It helps students understand how furniture and wood are designed and made within the industries through researching and designing products even as investigating the various different aspects of the industry from sourcing raw materials to producing finished products.
The AEO Excellence Awards symbolize the best that the events industry offers, showcasing the incredible achievements within the events industry over the last year.
The famous event recognizes and celebrates organisers’ achievements and standards of excellence. 100% Design has been nominated for two awards, namely ‘Best Tradeshow Exhibition’ and ‘Marketing Campaign of the Year’. The results are to be announced on the June21.

The Manila Fame International Show, which now combines the furniture and accessories show once held separately by Manila and Cebu organizations, is being scheduled for October 17 to 20 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
According to the Department of Trade and Industry Ceby Provincial Office, the Manila Fame show held last March saw 41 Cebu exhibitors who were able to generate a combined $1.474 million in export sales and P12.232 million in domestic sales.
The show, organized by the DTI’s Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (Citem) in Coordination with DTI-Cebu and industry organizations, aims to strengthen the country’s furniture and accessories export sector by pouring its resources into one show instead of separate exhibits so that buyers can focus on one location and will be enticed to attend.
The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) has appointed Steven Davies as its new CEO. Steven will take up his appointment from the 3rd June, and will continue on building the merger of the LA and LIF associations.
Steven will be joining the LIA from the National Skills Academy for Power, leading a public and private sector backed enterprise to draw and retain the skills required for securing UK’s power requirements in the future, where he was CEO. Peter Hunt, present CEO, will be supporting Steven and focus on precise areas of the association’s business.
